Do you find yourself feeling stuck? Prior to therapy, many people have not had the opportunity to safely feel or identify their emotions, get unstuck from difficult emotions, or even simply hold space for this to happen. Therapy allows you to safely and effectively move through this discomfort. It is through this process that we grow into stronger, wiser versions of ourselves. My hope as your therapist is to support you in moving through moments of discomfort, fear, and vulnerability to encourage individual growth and insight to carry with you through life.
For many, starting therapy can feel like a daunting process. I like to use an analogy to describe therapy to new clients: Imagine that you have begun the process of cleaning out a messy closet. At first, the task seems overwhelming. As you begin sorting and taking out objects, you look at the piles of clothes strewn about your room. Envision that each day you pick up one or two articles of clothing and slowly you sort through the piles until one day, you notice the mess becoming substantially smaller and eventually you have a clean room and a re-organized closet. Even though the task was initially overwhelming and uncomfortable, the end result was renewed growth, perseverance, and hope for the future.
As your therapist, my goal is to empower you as the expert in your own life. Therapy looks different for each client, so my person-centered and strengths-based approach helps me tailor treatment to your unique needs and strengths in a nurturing and collaborative environment. My training has provided me with an understanding and curiosity about relationship dynamics that impact us. By gently challenging the narratives we tell about ourselves, we can harness the power of our emotions and approach ourselves with kindness and self-compassion.
I currently work with individuals ages 18+ in-person and virtually at our downtown location.
